LUCAS system development

The aim of this project is to develop and implement a reporting and carbon accounting system to enable New Zealand to meet its Kyoto Protocol (under Article 3.3) – and United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) reporting requirements for carbon stock and carbon stock changes.

The scoping of the requirements is now complete and LUCAS System Development underway.

The LUCAS system will store our field plot and mapping data, calculate our carbon stocks and areas of land-use change and provide reports for the national inventory and Kyoto Protocol.
